Orbitarium Design License

Use Orbitarium Design for free in any project, personal or commercial, and change it however you like. No attribution needed. The rules only cover names, logos and passing the original off as your own.

You can

  • Use it free in personal and commercial projects, with no attribution.
  • Edit and improve it for your own needs.
  • Fork it and build your own design system on top, with no attribution.
  • Share the original on download or template sites, with a link to this site and this license.

You can't

  • Release the unchanged original as your own design system.
  • Call a modified fork "Orbitarium Design", give it its own name, like "Orbitarium Express".
  • Use the official Orbitarium Design logo or icons as your own.

Orbitarium Design is source-available software. This license lets you use, modify and build on it freely, with a few rules about naming, branding and presenting the original as your own.

1. Definitions

"Orbitarium" or "the Software"
The Orbitarium Design system published by WebOrbiton, including its stylesheet (style.css / orbitarium.css), its script (script.js / orbitarium.js), documentation, demo pages and example markup.
"The Original"
The Software exactly as published by WebOrbiton, or with only trivial changes, for example renamed files, reformatted or minified code, changed comments, or replaced token values with no other change.
"Modified Version"
Any work that meaningfully changes, extends or is derived from the Software, including forks and design systems built on top of it.
"Your Project"
Any website, web app, product, template or service that uses the Software to build its own interface.
"Official Branding"
The names "Orbitarium" and "Orbitarium Design", the Orbitarium logo and icon (including icon.webp), and any other logos or icons WebOrbiton uses to identify Orbitarium.

2. Free use

You may use the Software in any number of projects, personal or commercial, free of charge. No attribution, registration, payment or revenue limit is required. You may ship the Software, unchanged or modified, inside Your Project.

3. Modification and forks

You may modify, improve and adapt the Software for your own needs, create forks, and build your own design systems on top of it. No attribution is required. You may use, publish, distribute and sell a Modified Version, subject to Sections 4 and 5.

4. You may not present the Original as your own

You may not publish, distribute, sell or otherwise present the Original as your own design system, or claim authorship of it.

This only concerns the design system itself. Using the Original to build Your Project is always allowed (Section 2), and so is redistributing the Original under Section 6.

5. Names and branding

5.1. A Modified Version must not be named "Orbitarium" or "Orbitarium Design". It must use a different name, or the name with a clear distinguishing addition (for example "Orbitarium Express").

5.2. A Modified Version must not present itself as the official Orbitarium Design or suggest that it is made, endorsed or supported by WebOrbiton.

5.3. You may not use the Official Branding (logo and icons) as the logo or icon of a Modified Version, of Your Project, or of yourself or your organisation.

5.4. You may refer to Orbitarium by name to describe your work factually, for example "built with Orbitarium" or "based on Orbitarium Design".

6. Redistributing the Original

You may redistribute the Original, for example on a website that offers ready-made designs, templates or UI kits for download, provided that:

(a) you include a visible link to the official website, orbitariumdesign.eu;

(b) you include a visible link to this license, orbitariumdesign.eu/license.html; and

(c) you do not present the Original as your own (Section 4).

7. Termination

If you break the terms of this license, your rights under it end automatically. They are restored if you fix the breach within 30 days of becoming aware of it.

8. No warranty

The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

In no event will WebOrbiton or the authors be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the Software or its use, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Versions of this license

WebOrbiton may publish new versions of this license. Each release of the Software stays available under the license version it was published with.

11. Governing law

This license is governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland.
